A makeover!

I'd love to get some hair extensions to catapult me past this transitional hair regrowth phase right into a preferable "normal" hair phase but my hair dresser tells me that they'd look awful since my hair is so short. She said I'd need it bob-length for it to look natural and that just isn't helpful since bob-length is the actual goal.  Since learning more about the dangerous chemicals in skincare and cosmetic products, I'm not interested in facials and make-up style makeovers so what is a gal to do!?

So I figured...if I can't have much say in the hair department just yet, and I can't afford to resume my former addiction to designer handbags (I'm broke) or spa visits (no exposure to hot temps in hot tubs, steam rooms and the like due to lymphedema), why not a blog makeover!? I just selected a new template using the new designer - what do you think?

And while I'm on the subject of blog administration, I'm curious to know what else you might be interested in hearing from me. I'm tossing around some ideas for a website and I realize that my blog followers have different reasons for following. Some of you are survivors, some are friends or family members of mine or of other survivors.  What types of things would you like to hear more about from me?  Don't be shy - please comment.

AND, I have it on good authority (love you, Mom - you're such an effective snitch! haha) that there are a lot of anonymous followers that have never commented before and I want you to know that comments make me feel great and help keep me blogging. So, please do comment - I love hearing from everyone (OK, well not from the spammers - but from everyone else I do). If you have a blog that I haven't seen, please tell me about it.

Have a blessed day!

  1. Now that we talk almost every (work) day again, I don't have much to say but I am always looking for more info about "healthier" product options - personal care, make-up, cleaning, etc. You post a lot on Facebook but your wall is so "active" it is impossible to go back and find anything!

  2. Thanks, Amanda! The new website will definitely have lots of product info on it...meantime, you can email me any time when you have a type of product you are looking for and I'll share what I know. I've received similar feedback about my facebook page and I've experienced that myself when visiting other peoples' FB pages too - that's kind of how the website idea was born :). Now if I could just carve out more time to work on it and get it going -- a bit more challenging now that I'm back to work but I will make it happen. I promised the big guy in the sky that I'd listen when He tells me what to do with this experience. ;)

  7. I have been following your blog for maybe a year...found you through another site I check and can't remember now which one. I too, have had cancer. Was diagnosed with Stage IIA lobular cancer in July '08 and finished treatment in December '08, one day after Christmas! I love your perspective on cancer and the changes that have occured in YOU since you have gone through your cancer 'journey'. I am especially interested in how this has impacted your faith...and your reliance on God. I had a bit of a transformation, myself. It has made me look at things in a completely different way. I feel so encouraged by what you have to say and every day, I check to see if you have written anything. I have missed you! Please don't stop. If you would like to e-mail me, let me know and I'll provide an 'address'!

  8. Hey Julie! I like the new blog--it looks very professional :) I would really like to know more about safe makeup, face, and hair care options you have found. I've used several all natural hair care products but none have worked too well--and many are expensive. I'm sure there are well-priced products out there I don't know about. I also use bare minerals on my face but i know it isn't all "bare." for sure. let me know if you've found anything along those lines! Thanks, Julie.
